The Shopify pixel now reports your orders too
AddedThe Shopify pixel from Site settings > Installation used to count add-to-carts only. It now also reports each order a shopper completes on your store, so the Sales report gets orders even without the Shopify order webhooks.
Already installed the pixel? Paste the code again. The code you pasted earlier keeps counting add-to-carts but sends no order. Copy the code from the card, now called Shopify pixel for add-to-carts and orders, and replace the pixel's code in Shopify. The card now also shows when the last order was received.
With the webhooks too, each order counts once. AISA keeps both reports and uses the webhook's figures. The pixel's figures only fill in for an order no webhook reported.
An order only the pixel reported has limits. Its amount is Shopify's checkout subtotal: after discounts, before shipping, and with tax included on a store that shows prices with tax. Test orders are not recognised, an order counts even if its payment never goes through, and an order placed from the assistant's checkout link is not credited to the assistant. The pixel sends no refund or cancellation. Set up the webhooks to avoid all of this.
The pixel sends no customer, address or payment detail. It sends no add-to-cart for a shopper who objected to measurement, and it checks the objection before sending an order too. Whether that check works on your order confirmation page has not been measured yet: a store can serve that page on another domain, where the objection may not be readable. When Count add-to-carts on your pages is off in Site access, AISA records neither its adds nor its orders.
