Shopify carts now carry the conversation key

Changed

On a Shopify store, each shopper conversation now gets an opaque key (it starts with atr_) at the shopper's first message. Until now the key was only meant for shoppers who had consented, and AISA could not read that consent, so no cart was tagged. It is now created for every shopper who has not objected.

  • Your store's cart. The web tag sets the key as the iadvize_attribution cart attribute. An order from that cart carries it.
  • The assistant's cart. The key is in the cart's attribution field. Shopify then rewrites the order's landing page, and with it the shopper's first campaign (UTM) parameters in your own marketing reports, for orders placed from the assistant's checkout link. Orders from your store's cart keep theirs. AISA adds no campaign parameter of its own.
  • A shopper who objected gets no key. Nothing is put on their cart.
  • Linking is exact. An order counts for a conversation only when its key matches that conversation's key. An order placed where the tag did not run, such as a headless storefront, is not linked.

The shopper-facing data-usage notice now names the key.

New: a guide for sending orders from another platform with one HTTP request per order.
