The embedded panel no longer slides off the edge on iPhone
FixedThe embedded panel stays fully on screen on iPhone. When a shopper tapped the message field of the embedded panel, Safari on iPhone zoomed in on your page and kept the zoom after the field lost focus. The panel then sat partly off the left edge of the screen: the first letters of each answer, the header logo and the edge of the message field were cut off, while the right side looked normal.
Safari does this whenever a text field's text is smaller than 16px, and the chat's fields used 13px to 15px. On a touch screen, phone or tablet, they now use 16px, so tapping one no longer zooms the page. That covers every place a shopper types in the chat:
- the message field,
- the field for editing a message already sent,
- the free answer to a question the assistant asks,
- the comment in the feedback form.
The only visible change is slightly larger text in those fields on touch screens. On a computer without a touch screen, sizes are exactly as before. Nothing to set up.
One case remains: if the shopper zooms the page themselves with two fingers, the panel can still end up partly off screen. That is tracked separately.
