Conversations keep working where the browser blocks the panel's cookie

Fixed

Shoppers on these browsers could not hold a conversation in the web tag's panel. The panel relies on a small cookie to recognize the shopper's own conversation. Some browsers block that cookie inside the panel, chiefly Safari versions before 26.2. There, the first message got an answer, but the second one failed, a thumbs up or down was never saved, Delete this conversation did nothing, and a reload or a new page started over. We had documented this as a silent reset on reload only, which understated it.

That's fixed. When the panel finds its cookie blocked, the assistant keeps the same key in the panel's own browser storage and sends it with each request. On these browsers the shopper can now:

  • send as many messages as they like in the same conversation,
  • rate an answer,
  • delete their conversation,
  • pick the conversation back up after a reload, on another page or in a new tab of your site, within 24 hours.

Nothing is stored on your site. The key lives in storage that belongs to iAdvize's domain, kept separately for each site, and your pages can't read it. It's discarded after 24 hours without use. Browsers where the cookie works behave exactly as before, and there's nothing to set up. The AI Storefront is unchanged: it never had this problem.
