Go live, take offline and version names for widgets

Changed

The Active switch is gone from the widget editor and the widget list. Two actions take its place.

  • Go live puts the latest saved state of the version on screen online. It never saves for you, so save first if you have unsaved edits.
  • Take offline stops the widget at once, after you confirm. No saved version is lost.

Take offline is refused while an A/B test runs on the widget. That holds in the editor, the bar, the list and the Switch it off instead button of the delete dialog, which now uses the same flow. The dialog hides that button while a test runs. Stop the test, or promote its candidate, first.

One status tag says what shoppers get. It shows the live version, the two versions of a running test, or Offline. On the list, a dot reads V4 saved, offline when you have saved a version that is not online.

Going live can replace another widget. If another widget on your site holds the same inline slot, it is switched off and the editor tells you.

Going live needs a page type. A widget with no page type, and not set to show on every page, can't go live. The editor says why. Saving still works.

A version that was live is no longer locked. Only a version that was tested in an A/B test is.

Save is one button. It opens Save on V3 and Save as V4.

Versions can have a name. Name or rename one from the title menu or the versions table. The name shows in the title, the status tag, the menus and the test.

The Versions page has a Change history, and a notice tells you when someone else saved the version you have open.
