iPads now count as tablets

Fixed

Safari on iPad sends the same browser identity as a Mac, so until now the assistant could not tell an iPad shopper from a computer. Those shoppers were counted as Desktop, and Tablet came out too small.

From this release, the assistant runs a short check in the shopper's page that tells an iPad apart from a Mac. iPad shoppers now count as Tablet wherever you see a device:

  • the Device filter on Overview, Insights, Quality, Engagement and Conversations, and the figures it narrows, conversion and add-to-cart rates included;
  • the Device column of the Conversations list;
  • the By device table on the Engagement report, and its Exposures and Starter performance tabs;
  • the device filter and field of the API and the MCP server.

Earlier data does not change. Conversations and events recorded before this release keep the device they were recorded with, so past iPad shoppers stay under Desktop. If you compare a period before this release with one after it, expect Tablet to go up and Desktop to go down without any change in your traffic.
